About Tūroa
Tūroa Ski Resort offers an exhilarating alpine experience on the southwestern slopes of Mount Ruapehu, featuring New Zealand’s longest vertical descent at 722 meters. With over 500 hectares of diverse terrain, skiers and snowboarders can explore wide-open groomers, natural halfpipes, and thrilling off-piste areas, all set against the backdrop of a majestic volcanic landscape. The resort caters to all skill levels, boasting beginner-friendly zones like Alpine Meadow, advanced terrain parks, and the High Noon Express chairlift, which ascends to the highest lifted point in the country.
Getting here
Tūroa Ski Resort is located in New Zealand’s North Island, approximately 18 kilometers from the town of Ohakune. Visitors typically reach the resort by flying into Auckland or Wellington and then driving about 4.5 hours to Ohakune, followed by a 25-minute scenic drive up the Ohakune Mountain Road to the ski area. Shuttle services are also available from Ohakune for those preferring not to drive.
